Lola & Lamar is synonymous with femininity, beauty, strength and embodies their love of the seduction of the perfect swimsuit. Dedicated to the classic; minimalism, exotic colors and timelessly bold shapes, Lola & Lamar is the undisputed go-to for iconic and beautiful swimwear. Lola & Lamar is synonymous with femininity, beauty and strength and embodies their love of the seduction of the perfect swimsuit. Each piece is designed in the UK and made from luxurious fabrics in Bali, Indonesia.

 
 

 

The Challenge: Inspire woman

The goal of the branding and logo design for Lola & Lamar was direct focus, to honor the sure tone of the brand that mission is to inspire woman to be bold and embrace female beauty. The identity reflects the minimalist bikini designs with clear, crisp fonts. The warm shade of soft pink emphasize the strong feminine. The L & L on brush strokes represent fun aspect of beauty, enjoy the sun, sand, sea and palm trees.

I started working on a mood board that was inspired on the tropics; like color palette, beach photography, palm trees, sunsets, etc. With this moodboard I keep it for weeks reviewing to find inspirational details for the project. Coming from Puerto Rico was easy because I know the swimwear business and branding.

 
 

The Vision: Sustainability

The team at Lola & Lamar are committed to having a positive impact on the global community, not only within their supply chain and business practices, but throughout all facets of their brand, to ensure they make the best decisions they can for the planet, customers and their business. 

 

 
 

Concepting

For branding projects, I typically design anywhere from 1-3 concepts, depending on the agreement I make with the client. In this case they wanted 3 options. I designed and iterate, based off of those initial sketches, until I felt there was a satisfying diversity of solutions to present. Along with the logomark is initial ideas of color palette and typography, and early ideas around how to apply those elements together.

 
 

 
 

Refining the brand

The logo, color pallets and sans-serif typeface choice was meant to be at the same time clean, sharp, open, and sporty feeling. The art direction for the brand was to create a feeling as sexy as the product by celebrating women’s beauty. Looking into classic beach imagery and vintage movies looks for poses the direction to celebrate the tropics.

Lola & Lamar Swimwear focuses on minimal bikini basics with flattering silhouettes that celebrate both natural beauty and sex appeal. The brand’s boutique swimwear in neutral colors has an eye for vintage shapes yet a modern charm.
